FAQ

Q. What are the torque specifications for the flywheel to crankshaft and pressure plate to flywheel on the 7.3L F-Series Trucks?

A. The flywheel to crankshaft is 85-90 ft. lbs., and the pressure plate to flywheel is 15-20 ft. lbs.

Q. Why do I have a high pitch noise which sounds like the throw out bearing, but it goes away when I push in the clutch pedal?

A. The clutch cable needs adjusting so the bearing is not in constant contact with the diaphragm springs.

Q. Can A Spicer part number be cross referenced to a Valeo part number?

A. Yes, the Spicer to Valeo interchanges are found in the 2009-10 catalog on page 103 or can be found here.

Q. Can the 53302004 kit and V6615SB flywheel be interchanged with other clutch providers' versions for the 1994 - 98 7.3L F-Series Trucks?
A. No.  The Valeo kit only fits the Valeo flywheel due to the bolt pattern drilled on the 167458 flywheel.

Q. How do I make the proper adjustment on Valeo's medium and heavy duty pull style clutches?

A. Call the tech hotline and we will fax this information to you.  You can also contact customer service and ask for a service manual or download the Service Manual in the Tech Place section of this site.  Both departments may be reached at (888) 71-VALEO.

Q. Are Valeo's clutch discs asbestos free?

A. Valeo's clutch discs are 100% free of asbestos.

Q. What is Valeo's warranty policy?

A. For passenger car and light truck applications, our policy is 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.  Please go to our warranty page for more information.

A. Valeo's part number is 53506402.

Q. Why do some of your clutch kits not include a pilot bearing/bushing or tool?

A. Some kits do not require a pilot bearing/bushing.  A few tools are not available to us from the manufacturer.

Q. What causes my clutch not to engage properly after my installation?

A. Sometimes this is caused by not properly bleeding your hydraulic system or not installing a new hydraulic system when necessary.
